Over heating. Coolant Back Pressure. Help!

Hi

My insignia started overheating this morning got up to 130°+. I noticed that I'm getting lots of back pressure and very little coming from the return pipe. After it had cooled down a little I released the header cap. The coolant shot out the over pressure pipe. To I left it to cool longer. When I finally released the header cap the coolant was way below minimum.

I topped it up and ran the engine, the coolant continued to rise from the bottom with nothing or very little from the return pipe!

What your thoughts head gasket? Water pump? Other?

Thanks

Might be something simple but has they’ve just done the work it’s best they have the chance to rectify any mistakes.
All too often just lately , some owners take their car elsewhere then complain about the garage that did the work in the first instance which is unfair on the garage.
Mechanics are only human & modern motors crammed full of wiring & pipes , it’s easy to miss connecting something back up after doing a job on the engine.
