The guy said the battery was suspect, it was driven for about 4 mile no problems, parked up for about 36 hours then teh battery was too flat to start the car. i changed it for a good one but still the car would not start. i ran the good battery down it is now on charge.

Just outta curiosity, when you changed the fob battery......did you make sure the little black chip was still in place in the blade end of the key??

when all said and done though, its a dti and these can be problematic to say the least.

Hi mate do you have a second key ? try it and see . Battery drainage , disconnection and reconnection may erase memory from your ECM and or the TCM , it can even send the immo in lockup mode and your entire system will go to sleep since it sensed tampering.
Try to have a diagnostics test done or consult your dealer for the correct procedure to start the car.

You can try the following, after connecting a fresh battery leave the car for at least 15 minutes , switch ignition on and hold window close switch until window is fully closed continue to hold for 2 seconds ,do this to all windows , switch ignition off and wait for 10 minutes remove key , reinsert after 30 seconds and observe , if the MIL or IMMO warning light flashes the transponder is not communicating and reprogramming equipment will be required to wake your car , if the MIL and IMMO lights flashes briefly or stay on try to start . if this fail reprogramming and sicronization of control modules would be required,
Hope you sucseed .OOps so you got it started great stuff ,may this be of help to fellow members .
