Hi all, another head reck, it's a Vectra Sri 05, problem is starting to get to me and could do with a little help, here goes.... Start her up and she idles for about 3 seconds then starts cutting out, no throttle response from peddle, after 10 min of trying to keep her going she will finally idle but still with no response from throttle peddle. Then very slowly start reving, this could go on for another 10 min and then out of the blue full power with fine throttle response. Now it's not doing this every morning it's more of a random thing hot or cold. This evening it's after getting so bad that I can not drive the car, it seems to be like a fuel restriction. Would love to here from somebody that's after having the same trouble. No fault codes or lights on.

Thank you bud, after reading egr there it got me thinking, went out to the car and ran an actuator test on egr valve. After doing this 5 times I got a fault code of, YES egr (excessive), right so then....off with egr again. When stripping her off I noticed a lot of carbon build up in my brand new manifold, right o anyway egr valve was indeed stuck, when shoving it in it stayed in and would not spring back out, into the sink with it and a good awld scrub, I used washing powder with one drop of fairy liquid in extremely hot water. This concoction is the best stuff for cleaning them. Have tried loads of things in the past but when that powder gets at the carbon it turns it into mush. Egr is now like brand new. Fitted it back to the car and brumm brumm full power with no hesitation. (Forgot to mention that I dried egr with heat gun to get all traces of water out. Also if anybody try's this make sure you use an old rag and not a good towel and stay in the one place.....she was not a happy camper.

Yea I've had a couple of 19's now with same fault symptoms as yours and it was the stuck open,I've found that cleaning them is only a temporary fix,we even used to seperate the solenoid off the spring vavle part drill the Solenoid housing ,fill with WD40,and the attach a drill to the spring valve part and wizz it up to clean seats, then leave it soaking in wheel acid, they would look like brand new when rebuilt but they would never last long.

The solenoid side of things is fine not a bit of carbon. it was the shaft which had locked up with carbon, tested the solenoid with it separated and also put a piece of tape to put it under pressure, opened and closed no problem, I don't know any history about this car as I bought her with a broken timing belt, leaking inlet, 2 injectors leaking( because there bolts were snapped and someone had taped into the rocker cover, the list continues. But have all these fixed and after cleaning the egr I've never had this power in any of the 3 vectras I've owned. Have you had any probs wit glow plug relay, p0380-08. I'm only getting fault when cold but the plugs are getting power and are all working.

How do you know they are working mate?no never really had problems with glow time relay,in my opinion any fault codes relating to glow plugs nine times out of ten is an actual glow plug that's gone down,
Easy to check if you have a multi meter, set dial to ohms (resistance),put black lead on cylinder head and red lead on top off glow pull (unplug first)then a good plug will read about 6 ohmz or less, a faulty glow plug will usually read high resistance.i would check this first.
