I was going to buy a 55 plate Zafira but on the test drive we could hear a whiney - singing noise when coasting or in neutral, if you were accelerating it was quiet and the car drove well. It has done 85000.
The noise appears to be coming from left hand side of engine compartment where the belts are. We were told this was due to a new fan belt put on day before being incorrectly tightened.
We have left the car for now, owner says he will get it fixed, should we be worried, is there a bigger problem and are we in danger of buying a dud.
We will be grateful for any advice.
