Vauxhall Combo 1.3 CDTI Oil Leak!

Hi all, any help or guidance would be appreciated first of all.

I recently over filled my oil by around 3 litres!! Then had this drained by a friend, not sure if it’s been done correctly.

There was a minor leak prior to this but this is a lot heavier now, and looks as though it is from some sort of pipe or seal, it is dripping directly from directly above the top of the catalytic converter which is very dangerous and I can’t drive the van at all now. Other than this the van runs fine and has plenty of power etc.

Once again, any help would be massively appreciated!!

thanks

Was it driven between when you over filled it and when it was drained?

That is a huge amount to over fill by and it has probably blown a gasket or O ring seal somewhere. I would be looking at whatever is mounted at the back of the engine, possibly the oil filter housing or oil cooler assembly for example.

Do you know the rough cost to fix this sort of problem? If it was a gasket or O-ring seal?
It's impossible to give any idea of the cost, as we don't know where the problem is. For instance, a 10p O ring might need hours of work to get at it.
The best thing to do is get the engine cleaned down, then run it and see where the leak is from.
