V-reg Combo handbrake light keeps coming on

As the title suggests, I have a v-reg combo and the handbrake light has suddenly started to come on intermittently whilst driving, under braking, going round corners and in a straight line, any ideas why this should happen?

It comes on and then goes out again, engaging and releasing the handbrake doesn't stop or cure it.

Yes it was the brake fluid and NOT the little switch under the hand brake that may have got dirty, as told by the guy who owned the van previously lol.

Luckily thought about it myself and could feel the brakes getting a little looser and was able to top up at a local halfords before anything untoward happened.
