Hi

Would someone be very kind and advise me on the procedure of fitting a tow bar to Zafira B 2010.

I have read on some eBay descriptions that cutting of the bumper is required, but I have parking sensors on my bumper its a black strip at the bottom that the sensors are on so am worried about that, and also the fact that the bumper needs cutting.

Does anyone have a tow bar that is fitted without their bumper being cut?

1 last question, if I buy the kit myself is it a simple enough task to simply bolt the peices into place, just watched a Youtube video and the guy said car makers will make it easy for you to get things like this by providing the necessary holes to use....is this correct?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Lee

If it's anything like the Cavalier, 3 marks either side in the boot floor over the chassis legs (circular like the marks left by a spot weld), the towbar came with stiffening tubes, you had to drill through the boot floor a big enough hole to insert these tubes.

I've done one or two tow bars on the Zafira. The bumper needs cut. If you have parking sensors then I don't think you can also have a tow bar unless the sensors are factory fit, sounds like yours are dealer fit. Either way the sensors will need coded/taught that the tow bar is there.

Dealer fit? Because parking sensors are on a Black strip and not Blue which is the colour of the car....

Would I need to take this to Vauxhall for the fitting and coding, sounds mega expensive!!!

Will price it up any how

Cheers for your help guys

Dealer fit is when the parking sensors are fitted at the dealership where the car was purchased.

Factory fit is when they are fitted at the factory then the car is being built. I could be wrong but if it's factory fit on the newer Zafiras then it will have front sensors too. Dealers can still fit fronts however. They will be fully integrated with the cars electrics and will have a button on the centre console with a P and some sonar lines on it. Depending on the car they may also be wired into the radio to dim the volume when the sensors become active.

i have them on the front too, and also a button on my dashboard to turn the beeping off if i ever want to....the beeping is coded so i know what corner the sensor is telling me about

My front bumper though is all blue and holes must have been made to put them in, that's not the case on the rear bumper, they all run straight on a piece of black plastic, this is an extra piece attached to the bottom of the bumper...

just found this pic showing exactly what I have, wondering why the rear sensors were not installed same as the front, there different....

I've seen those bars fitted by dealers before. Not sure if the factory also fit them. I think the factory sensors are in the bumper front and back. I should know better as I've fitted sensors to the Zafira. The fronts are a nightmare because they still need a reverse feed. Due to the REC the closest one is in the rear wing!

Found this picture on google. It's from an Insignia. On the right hand side under the screen you can see the parking sensor button. If yours looks like that then it's factory fit. If not then you have dealer fit sensors.

But the rear bumper does smack of a diy job....

I have decided a roof box is a lot less hassle so won't be going down the route of a tow bar....

cheers for your help, much appreciated
Im fairly certain that the bar on the bottom of the bumper is dealer fit but if you've got that exact button in the dash then that's factory. Front sensors wouldn't of been fitted at the factory for the rears to be fitted at the dealer so I'm a bit confused o_O

Your welcome

Might I add, I have a blank button next to it, and I only have 2 buttons either side of my hazard button and not 3 that's in the pic,

I also spotted another zaf with same black strip on rear bumper...so it has to be standard

Dealers do fit those black strips also. You can buy them from vauxhall and fit them yourself. I just wasn't sure if they were also a factory fitment.

The part number is 90567981 for the bumper strip.

So the dealer could have either bought a whole new bumper with sensors included or drilled and fitted them.....but on the rear the opted for a cheapo black bar....oh well...bought a mahoosive roof box now so not getting tow bar too much hassle

Hi All, I have purchased a Zafira B with tow bar already fitted but I installed the rear sensors later on after as shown in the picture so I think you can do it if yuo wanted. Don't know how to put pic on here otherwise would do to show my fitted sensor and tow bar.
