How do you unclip the pipes connected to the fuel filter?? seems to be causing problems for my dad and brother.

you shouldnt need to unclip if you are just changing the filter, just remove the screw and electrical plug and move to one side, make sure you renew both the seals on the filter and screw(suplied with filter) and if you can refill the filter housing with clean fuel before putting lid on, saves drawing air into the system and causing difficulty to start!!

As mentioned, the Haynes manual says undo the pipes, no need too, undo the hex bolt and then take the filter out, replace the seals and you must refill the filter housing with diesel to the top, then refit and check for no leaks.

Start the car and rev upto 2000 rpm to get fuel through don't stop, if you do you will suck air through and then you will have to do the process again of re-filling with fuel.

I also helps if you remove the "air scoop" that sits above the fuel filter. Remove the rubber seal that runs side to side on the back side of the engine bay. Remove long plastic cover between washer jets and engine bay, undo the 4 10mm nuts/bolts that hold the metal heatsheild above fuel filter. I've also found removing this makes it much easier to get at the brake fuild filler and power stearing filler.
