You need to remove the rear boot cover. Its about 6 screws and test to see if the motor has 12v going to it. If it does then the motor has failed. Seems a common problem on the zafira - nearly as common as the arms breaking off leaving the metal boss seized onto the motor shaft.

If you remove the back panel and unplug the connector from the motor. Then turn the rear wiper on with the ignition on and using a multimeter set to VDC test to see if you have 12v present. You should have 12v if you put the probes between the brown and blue wires. If the voltage is present then the motors at fault. If not then you need to check the relay in the fusebox.

 

just checked my fuse box and i turned the rear wiper on and i felt the clicking noise coming from relay

 

If you remove the relay and look on it you should see numbers 30, 85, 86, 87. These refer to the legs. If you look at what pins 30 and 87 are and then put a wire in the socket between 30 and 87 then turn the igntion on the wiper should work. If it doesnt then the motor is defective.

 

took the relay out and its got brown bits on it and smells of burning

No. You need to test the motor. Use a jumper wire were the relay should go between 30 and 87 and see if the wiper works. If it works then maybe its just the relay faulty. If it doesnt work then the wiper motors probly knakcered aswell

 

hi sorted it checked my relay and that was knackered so got another relay from scrappy and hey bingo it works spot on thanks very much for your help much appreciated
