Hi Andy thanks for your reply. so am I right that the rail pressure solenoid and the injector leak back pipe and the pipe from the high pressure pump all go into a cylinder. Then go back to the main fuel tank ? If so what is that cylinder called.and why do lots of people call a regulator ?

If yours is the same then the long silver cylinder is the High pressure fuel rail, the valve with the plug at 90 degrees is your pressure regulator and at the other end with the plug poking straight out is the fuel rail pressure sensor, there is nothing else on the rail other than these parts, if you buy a NEW replacement rail it will all come as one part i think.

Hi Mate, sorry had to go to work.
I can see where the confusion is, the cylinder you are talking about is not the fuel pressure regulator, it is the Fuel Return Damper, i suppose it does regulate fuel pressure to a degree but it has no real bearing on the fuel rail pressure, here is a diagram of the Z19dth fuel system, the damper is number 2.
The fuel pressure regulating valve is number 4.
