I now get 'OP-COM USB V2' come up in my device list when I connect the OP-COM interface, but when I hit update driver, and search the drivers disk, it says updating the driver but a few seconds later it fails with the error...
'Windows found drivers for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install them';

and further....
'The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file. The file is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering'

error code 28

also in events....

Assuming you haven't stuffed your unit up it might be time to get some help.

I guess I am a little fed up with continuing to pay out for stuff that is supposed to work but doesn't.

I am not going to give away anymore money without some kind of gurantee that it will work.

I believe my laptop is a good spec with the latest software, I have bought an opcom download which I was told would work. I have bought an interface which says it is an opcom interface. I have it recognised in device manager. I'm not buying anything else.

If no one can suggest anything which doesn't involve me buying anymore junk then I'm giving up, and will cut my losses and do without.

I have a Pentium 2 with a 400 MHz processor and 256 Mb of RAM that runs OpCom with no issues so it is not the spec of your laptop that is the issue.
That leaves either a faulty interface which is going to cost you money to replace.
Or it is an installation issue ( most likely ).
Solving either is going to cost you something because it is unlikely you will get it done for nothing.
Your supplier seems to have abandoned you, which leaves you at the point you are now, which is not going to change without you paying something out.

Ok so your still in a pickle and don't want to wast any more money, that's fine but if you have time then first off can you try the unit A with another computer, B on a different car , I say this as the corsa is a bit funny about the SW you use on it , and may be installing it on an other computer my just work , this won't cost any money, just time and good friends and again as per my previous post please look at the opcom part on this forum it's only reading and my just solve your problem , I told you this is not easy but possible with a lot of patience, or just give up :notworthy: all the best

Funny enough, my other car is a Corsa, so I could try this. But I agree with you, I think it's an installation issue. I am in contact, with the seller of the interface, and am waiting for a response from them. However I am almost convinced this is a driver issue, compatibility problem with the software, not the interface, as the interface is being recognised by device manager. So in my head that rules out laptop, and interface.

I think somehow I have to find the correct driver for the interface, which will work with the 'version' of Op-Com I have...Cables and interface are medium for connection, which appears to be working at the basic level.

I am going to wait and see what the seller comes back with, and if I have been 'abandoned' as you put it, then I will open it up and investigate it at chip level. And just to put the record straight, it's not that I don't want to spend any money, it's money for wasted on stuff that is supposed to work and doesn't which p***es me off.

Well done stick with it and I'm sure you will get there, I'll have a look for the instal instructions for mine as I know there was a bit about how important it is to install it in the correct order for it to work , may take a day or so but I'll post it asap all the best

ok this OP-COM stuff is driving me crazy....

I have managed to get the interface working, by disabling digital signatures when installing drivers...now interface clicks into life and passes the diagnostics.

But now the OPCOM software is stuck in an activation loop. The software says that it cant be used until activation. I put in my details, but instead of passing on, every time I hit the diagnostics tab, it says I have to activate the product. Then there is an error code which comes up with there is a updated version which I need to update first. However when I hit the update online tab, it says I already have the latest version.

Anyone know what is going on here.

It is a driver issue.
There is no need to disable driver signatures on a correctly configured OpCom.

I understand that, but only by doing so, has allowed the drivers to load and finally get the interface working. It's OPCOM that is now not allowing me to continue.

I have working hardware now, and the latest version of the software, according to the internet. I'll try the OPCOM forum, maybe there is a way past this.

So you are running software version 160115a then with firmware 1.64?
