Op-Com assistance please/EGR reading

Having recently found my issues to revolve around the EGR valve which I took off, cleaned then replaced. Used my Op-Com to clear the fault codes and now seemingly running ok. When I had the Op-Com switched on I went into the section where it provides live data feedback on how different parts of the car are running.
I selected the EGR solenoid valve section which gave me live reports on the battery and engine revs etc however I noticed that the value (in percent) next to the EGR was 0%. I also noticed that the page was showing inactive so I pressed the start activation button which caused the EGR to report 100% and the engine begin struggling to idle. Once this actiuation had finished the engine again ran as normal. Having been on a few journeys I have repeated this and now when the activation is on there is no effect on the idling.

1) Is this correct in that when inactive it should show 0% against the EGR?
2) Is it correct that when active it should affect the idle of the car?
3) Is it correct that when I now activate it there is no affect to the idle of the car??

It does. If I plug in and run this test when the engine is warm it doesn't affect the idle as you commented above. Would this live data screen be able to indicate whether or not my EGR is working properly or not after I have just removed and refitted it?
Is there anything else I can do with the Op-Com to see if my EGR is working effectively?

good question

  • inactive would be correct on start up asnormal
  • it will effect idle if not fully warmed up
  • depends on your running perameters if warm different to cold engine
hop the above helps
