Yes the MAF sensor can make it super flat!!! no boost, no turbo, just had that problem myself! try cleaning the MAF sensor first. Also make sure its in the right way as ive seen it replaced the wrong way!! lol

Otherwise i would go for MAP sensor, i had some boost up to turbo range with MAP sensor not working properly then engine electronics light would come on and turbo wouldnt kick in, MAP sensor replaced and its boosting perfect.

Hope this helps.

hi seo just gone to car to see if the map sensor in the pic is the one i undid to remove the egr (the egr valve was so caked up i had to remove the black deposit with a knife!) just turned the car around and ive got power back now i dont want to look a gift hosre in the mouth but it worries me it could happen again i got on holiday soon which is a400 mile drive

i didnt really understand that post? So was it your egr valve?

caked egr valve can cause power loss but wouldnt think it would stop the turbo working (but im no expert) but my MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor caused my car to be super flat and i mean no boost, no turbo, you feel like you can walk faster!

I had a warning light coming on when turbo was coming in with the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor problem. It was a flat but i still had a some boost.

Sorry
i just read my last post and realised it was wrong but what you describe is exactly whats happening to my car!
at first i was told it could be the egr so i cleaned that the weekend but still had the same problem the only reason i mentioned the egr valve was because thanks to your link i saw the pic of the MAP sensor and realized that that was the part i removed sat and did not know what it was
a mechanic freind of mine said it could be the turbo as it was completely flat and not working also he took my MAF sensor away to clean brought it back and gave the car a service OIL, diesel and air filters.etc it seemed to be a little better and took the kids to school this morning still no turbo turned the car around to have a look at the MAP sensor and turbo kicking in and back to full power im pretty confused at this point as i said going on holiday soon and have got a long way to drive

What about trying to clean the MAP and MAF sensors before going out and buying new sensors? Its got to be worth a try. Just clean them with sprays of carb cleaner. Maybe that will do it.

Hey when you cleaned the EGR valve did you clean it thoroughly with carb cleaner? Some people even soak them inpetrol for a while after initial cleaning with carb cleaner. They say it gets even more crap out of the EGR valve.

hi paul thankyou mate cleaned the egr with carb cleaner had to let it soak for two hours before getting the knife on it to clean the black soot off, But thanks it looks like its going to be sorted my mechanis mate who did something to the maf sensor was expecting something to happen it looks like it was a mix of ditry diesel filter, dirty egr a faulty maf sensor and two black vacuum pots which he explained were low pressure and high pressure need replacing he's charging me ÂŁ90 to ÂŁ100 and that includes all parts so fingers crossed will post any joy on sat night but i would like to thank everyone for thier help
cheers all!!!!!!!!!

yes mate sorry got carried away what was wrong was a few things The MAF sensor needed soaking to clean properly (in petrol or paraphine) and the egr needed cleaning as it was that caked and it was stuck in one position those two jobs with the service stopped it going into limp mode at 70mph but i still had some loss in power he explained were caused by two little black vacuum pots to the right of the battery with some black pipes being replaced from there to the turbo waste gate and the others all being cleaned as regards to the power increase and smoother running my polish mate smiled at me and said trade secret and no matter what i asked would not elaborate but i am getting better fuel economy as well so as regards that im stumped sorry i hope this helps as it has had me nearly cancelling my holiday as it was so stressfull
