remove the plastic cover over the rocker cover, by undoing the 2 torx screws.
underneath you will see the coil pack and rocker cover.
on the top right hand side will be the egr valvejust slightly below the rocker cover. it is approx 5 inches in length with a black electrical connection on top and a long cylindrical metal core below.
There are two torx screws to be removed and clip off the electrical conection and the valve will be removed.

In front of the egr valve is the steering fluid container, this may help you to determine the location of the egr valve.

ECG and Throttle Body Location

Hey!

Great picture of the engine bay.

I had a hesitation problem with my 1.6 16V Mk4 less than 12 months ago and changed my coil pack for a brand new one, worked fine.

I have since been on my hols doing lots of miles and have started to get the hesitation and "hold back" feeling with the car.

Starts kangarooing etc even when im cruising or when I put my foot down then pull my foot off the throttle it holds back. Does seem to strugle up hills and have to really floor it to make it go places too.
AND.... the fuel consumption is pretty poor too.

Reading the threads...looks like it could be the ECG or the throttle body.

Any chance someone could point me in the right direction as to where they are?

Cheers for the help guys!
