Though this may help a few people as there has been a fair few posts asking where bits are so here you go,
is a Z16XE but is similar to most of the 1.4/1.6/older 1.8s

Sorry it's taken so long. this is the best picture i have and have not had a chance to label it. so here is the 1.6 8v engine. feel free to use it to label it for me and the rest of the VxON members. unfortunatley it is departing me next week to make room for something bigger and different. will keep you lot posted.

Hello mate i ve got one of the first build mk 4, 1.6, 8v, and have had things go wrong that even the main dealers have not done yet, so give me a shout if you need any help, or put up any problems you have had yourself, as its always helpful to hear of problems for when my car gets the same,

Very usefull mate - worth pointing out it's similar to the LATER 1.8, that being the Z18XE1 - it's based on the Z16XE.

Earlier 1.8 ECO's were X18XE/V's - same as the X20XEV (Vectra) engines. :)
the x18xe wa never fitted to the astra g,from the start it has a x18xe1,from 2001 model year the x18xe1 was upgraded to the z18xe which is the same as a x18xe1,nothing except the coil pack and timing belt kit will fit the 1.6 and 1.8 engines, they are completely different(even the block water ways are different)so you are wrong the z18xe is not based on the z16xe in any way but its family is related to the 1.6 and going back to the 1.2/1.3 engines of the 1980s,the x18xe1 was a new engine in 1998/9 as fitted to astra g and facelift vectras, the block and head is the same on the x18xe1 and z18xe

Andy u forgot the Dipstick :lmao: good idea though

lol, i didnt actually make it, (stole it from another site ;))

from 2001 model year the x18xe1 was upgraded to the z18xe which is the same as a x18xe1
any the drive by wire etc. quite different,

but yes the Z18XE is quite different from the Z16XE, and there never was a X18XE,

the earlier 1.8's in the astra werent based on the X20XEV either, iirc the C18XE was an underbored X20XEV, but the 1.8's in the astra G were very different from the 2.0's

heres a little info on some of the later engines that i made the other day,

can any one help wot engine size is my mates 97 corsa sport is says x4xe- x6xel on the head wot does that mean
no such engines, could be the X14XE or X16XEL, the 14 would mean 1.4 litres, and 16 would mean 1.6 litres

all vauxhall engines codes are like this, just put a point in between the numbers and youll have the engine size,

and if someone doesnt know the size of engine on there car id be a little worried tbh, check the log book if you dont know (or just put the reg no in any insurance website/dvla/rac and find out)
