have made 4 attemps to re code radio after battery died! followed handbook but after wating required lenght of time 20 minutes at the third attempt , each time after the press hold as button and hear the beep the word code does not show up dash marks appear where you enter the code in the display i put in the correct code from the handbook but it wont accept it why?

The way to this is as follows;
Turn ignition on, turn radio on.
Turn radio off. Turn ignition off.
Turn ignition on.
Hold A/S and keep it pressed while turning radio on. Release A/S.
If you are lucky the word SAFE with a number will appear ie; 10 SAFE
You will not see the rest of this operation as the word SAFE stays on so you have to count carefully.
Now what you need to do is enter the code ENTERING 0 AS THE FIRST DIGIT- in my case the first digit is 9 so I press No1 button 10 times (0.1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9)
Do the same for 2.3 and 4 then press and hold A/S.
Voila!
