I have a Zafira 2010 & having the following problem today
  • When the engine is running the car won't go into any gear including reverse.
  • When you try to get into reverse while engine is running you will hear and feel the gears clash .
  • When the engine is off, all the gear inlcuding reverse works, but as soon as the engine is started, you won't be able to change gears.
Please can anyone guide me what could be the issue?

Does the clutch pedal feel normal, with good resistance?
If so, it may be the clutch has stuck due to not being used. You may need to let the engine warm up prior to trying this. Try putting it in gear, then hold the clutch pedal down and starting the engine (handbrake on and foot on brake).

Yes, It feels normal with good resistance.

Try putting it in gear, then hold the clutch pedal down and starting the engine (handbrake on and foot on brake). did this & i can drive in 2nd gear but can't change the gear at all.

That sounds as if the clutch is faulty then. You will need to get it repaired at a garage, unless you can do it yourself.
