Morning all,

so I’ve had a mare this week. My reverse camera stopped working on my android unit. I replaced the camera and it still didn’t work so I thought it must be the cable.

as I pulled my stereo out the canbus decoder stayed in the dash (somewhere) never to be found - I have took all panels off and still can’t find the thing. Obviously stereo wouldn’t work now either as canbus shutting it down. In the end I saw a video on YouTube about bridging the yellow and red connector on the block whichgoes into thedecoder and alas the stereo works albeit without steering controls etc and I have to remember to turn it off as it doesn’t go off with ignition. I am planning to look for the decoder again but need to get a flexible camera.

after all this I then notice the airbag light coming on. Tried clearing with opcom but it won’t clear - it’s present /intermittent. At first I thought it was the passenger seat so tried to get access with the block but struggled to separate it. Then I thought hang on I think it’s the air bag above the glove box. Maybe pushing my stereo back and putting the glove box in I’ve chafed a wire or something causing the resistance either that or the jumper I’ve done on the stereo is having an effect.

can I have some advice on where it is and what to check for please guys. I don’t have a multimeter or anythingto checkvolages so can’t provide that but have put screens below.

Also even though there’s resistance, the air bagshould still deploy in an accident?

thanks

Thanks I was pulling wires through from the back of the glove box. So it’s a possibility. Once glovebox out will I see the air bag squib?
I also slid out the centre console with the cup holder etc I’m led to believe the airbag ecu is at the front under the gear knob?

btw this is thething I did

Don’t suppose you know where the decoder can go once behind the dash? I think the iso plug and canbus box was tucked rear right in a void think it might have been alongside the clocks / behind the vent to the right of the radio

Yes mate lol down to the gear knob as well. I broke the back of my cage out when I got the stereo back right upper there’s a void and there’s a void on the right but coming back towards you - if you get my meaning.

I’ve purchased a cheap inspection camera from Amazon if it works once and allows me to find it jobs a good in. Gonna wait tillsaturday As I’ll probably take all the dash out again.
Do I need to disconnect the battery if making sure the squib cables are in properly. Also if none of the above work what options are there? Use a resister to lower the ohms slightly?

Right sorted thanks @andyl .Reseated the airbag connection and removed the jumper and lights off now.

I went on the hunt for my canbus box as well as I purchased a endoscope camera! Took apart everything.Even took the clocks out and found it behind the clocks on the metal surround for the steering column. Put everything back together and then car wouldn’t start I kept cranking and nothing. Missus then said fuel was low so either it had run out of fuel or the battery had drained a bit.

got father in law to bring me a gallon of diesel and jump me. Cars fine now :) I just need to fix the rear cigarette usb in the back seat as it was pulled out and the wires pulled.

I used to run it on a perm live with a relay and the ignition live to engage the relay buthaven’t got a relay at the mo. You reckon the small black ignition live will be fine to power the usb socket or will it need the 12v perm live? Also -my minds gone blank - is it brown live and red earth? My car had been butchered with wires so need to trace the cable. And can’t recall which way around it should be.
