Hi folks..i brought a N-reg 1.6 16v astra cdx..its really nice..but ive just had a look underneath and i see a square silencer box towards the front end..is this a catalytic converter?..i really dont have a clue and the pipes leading in and out of it dont look to healthy...how much would one of these cost if it was knackered?..could you put a secondhand one on?...help im panicking as its mot time in another 3 weeks..and i need to get an idea in case worst comes to worst..

Probably looking around £80
As its an N plate, it would need a Cat :Cool2:

yes yours will have a cat and they are roughtly £100 from a motor factors

Sounds like it is the Cat and yes you could put a second hand one on if its in good order.
