I'd imagine this badboy has broken, seen lots of them fail.....

 

 

I can’t tell if it’s broken or not. This is with the pedal fully up against the dash

 

 

This is pressed down to where it starts do something

Does part number 13 go inside the spring?

 

So I’ve taken it off, it’s not broken in anyway seemingly.
Put it back on, it works slightly better, the pedal still over travels massively on the way back up and gives the underside of the dash a good whack. Any ideas?

 

Hmm never seen one travelling too far up. Your first post mentioned it only travelling halfway up, has that now been replaced with it coming too far? What does the actual pedal height look like with it fully off, against the brake pedal?

 

Yeah, on the return stroke it only gets halfway back up, but if I pull it slightly up with my toe it springs up miles and rest against the dash

 

It sounds as if the pedal stop has broken or been bent, and the previous owner fitted a cable tie as a "bodge".
It appears you have the choice of finding & repairing the pedal stop, or fitting another cable tie!

 

Where is the pedal stop? Is it a metal tab or something? Part of the bracket I assume?
