yes work van
Ok , i guessing you do some miles during the day probably mostly town & urban driving . If that's the case then the DPF should actively regenerate in those circumstances unless you turn engine off during a regen session. What the dealer is asking you to do is a passive regeneration but that can only happen when the engines exhaust gases can get up to the temperatures required & on a 1.6 engine this can be more difficult to achieve than say a 2.0 Diesel engine . Something's not right I'd say with the active regenerations .

So it is trying to actively regenerate the DPF then if they say the oil needs changing as that's a sign of failed regenerations when the diesel has mixed into the engine oil. Is the oil level above the max mark?

The engine revs increase & the exhaust emissions get very very hot . Our Insignias always seem to regenerate when the drivers are picking up customers & loading up their shopping , we have to warn them not to stand behind exhaust whilst loading the bags in lol :D
Also when turning the engine off if you can hear the engines fans spinning you know a regeneration was in progress.

Hi have a 68 plate vivaro and having the same problem at 3000 miles they said when the light came on it needed oil and filter change cost me £120 as they said not in the warranty. It then came on at 6000 miles they said the anti pollution light was set at the wrong setting. Then came on at 12000 miles same thing had the first service at 16500 miles new oil and filter 2000 miles later came back on and so on in total a new van as had 4 oil n filter change and still comes on

It's shocking but not surprising that Arnold Clark won't sort this as there's clearly a problem other than driving style. Newer DPF systems don't need to be used on motorways as much, that's a legacy of older passive systems that rely on engine temps to get the job done. Yours should be able to do a DPF regen whenever it wants.

Anyway there's clearly a problem with the DPF system if it starts complaining at low miles and the dealer should sort it, although that will likely take legal action to get their useless corpses to lift a finger.

It's probably worth taking it to a diesel or dpf specialist as they will take the time to see if there's faulty sensors or something else stopping the regen from being successful.

Had it into a number of garages including vauxhall and couldn't get to the bottom of it. Vauxhall had an expensive guess that was going to cost £700 but still might not of fixed the problem so no chance am I gambling on that. Just wanted to see if anyone has fixed the problem

I bought a brand new Vivaro van. It has now just turned 5 years old and has covered just 40,000 miles. It is the worst vehicle I have ever owned and I have owned some junk over the years. Since new I have has 2 x oil leaks, the roof leaked, the turbo went, the clutch pedal got stuck down on 3 occasions, the brakes failed, I have a waring light on the dash saying Brake lights faulty which no-one can work out why as they work and in the last week, one front brake has got stuck on and I have had both `Check ignition system' and `check anti-pollution system' come on the dash. It seems like every time I drive the van something else goes wrong. I will never touch another Vauxhall as long as I live :-(

For Vauxhall read Renault,
after all it's just a badge engineered piece of French Junk.
The new Vivaro is also more French junk, just Citroen rather than Renault. ;)
