Hi to all. I'm new here and new to vauxhall and i'm trying to find out the pro's and con's of the Vectra Gsi 2.5 v6 and would appreciate any info that you guys could spare. I'm looking at buyin a 1998 to 2000 model.

Other than the usual bits that you'd check on other cars...

Check for knocking from the rear - the bushes are prone to conking out and knocking like a good 'un. The big bush (ooer) is only about £15-£20 to replace - but is an absolute cow to fit.

Also - the front doors appear to have some problem with the window falling off the winder runner. Having said that I haven't [touch wood] had a problem with mine.

Make sure the cam belt has been done at the correct interval - it's a costly job - Vx wanted £500 to do mine, but I got it done at a specialist for £200 incl parts. There is an ex MSD (the company converted the SRi to the GSi) mechanic called Dave Jordan that comes highly recommended and does work on the V6's.

Hi Carlos, where did you have the cam belt done? Was it an engine out jobbie? I have no idea when the cam belt was last done on mine and I know its not a straight forward thing...was thinking of getting the clutch, flywheel and thrust bearing done at the same time but still probably looking at a few hundred minimum...cheaper the better!
