I'm chatting with someone on VVOC about getting a decat - there seems to be some concern over how the cat fits on - whether it needs to be cut out and replacement pipe welded in, or whether it is a bolt in unit.

Anyone know how easy it is to do and whether it is indeed a bolt in cat or not?

Cheers muchly.

The cat is all part of the downpipe section, so you would need to cut it out and weld in a straight through pipe, or make up flanges etc. Pain the ass IMO.

Reason I ask, is that I can get a de-cat pipe with a flange on either end.

So, by the looks of it, I'd need to cut the pipe at the correct point and have a flange added to my downpipe.

Might get a quote for this - as it would be changeable, so no issues at MOT time.

To be fair, most stuff that we do to the car is a pain in the ass. :lmao:
