Hi.
I am new to this forum and I intend to buy a 05 or 06 vectra 1.9 Ctdi (150bhp).Is there anything in particular I should look out for when looking at these cars. Am I making the right decision in buying one of these? Thanks in advance.

I have a zafira 1.9 150 yr 06 the cars fantastic,the engine is lovely pulls upto 4.5 rpm other diesel(ford 2.0tdci mondeo)ran out of steam past 3700rpm.
The 150 engine suffers from swirl flap(inlet manifold) and egr probs.
Mines done 42k miles lost power under 2500 rpm,dealer replaced inlet manifold and egr,work was covered by warranty otherwise it would of cost over £1500.
The 120 8v,iv'e been told does not have swirl flaps in the air intake.
I've also read about water pump(Honest John) failure arond 50k miles,thus wrecking the engine.
If you buy one of these make sure you have warranty.
Also my zaf averages 35 mpg around town.

I have an 04 one. Water pump recently siezed at 50K miles writing off the engine. £4300 to have a new engine fitted. Otherwise a lovely car!

whats the deal with these water pumps? why does a siezed water pump wreck the engine? or was it just that you didnt see the temperature rising?

Vx dealer said waterpump impellor comes off around 100k miles,they have seen quite a few of these.
If the pump siezes it strips the cambelt,smashing the engine.

The cambelt drives the waterpump. One seized pump and the cambelt comes off or snaps, then the pistons kiss the valves.
