Many of you will now be aware that the annual VBOA National Rally has been forced to find a new home for 2017 since the management of Billing Aquadrome decided to cease all involvement with any car related shows and events.

The event will take place on the weekend of 8th and 9th July 2017.

After an extensive search of alternative venues, the new site and show details have been made available to all.

The new show will be held at:

Market Harborough Show Ground
Gallow Field Road
Market Harborough
LE16 7QB

Ordinance Survey Location

Can be found here https://www.gridreferencefinder.com/

Ref SP 71346 89352

Google Maps ref please click this link

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.4935659,-0.9515881,15z

The event is being supported by LMF Vauxhall and all booking is to be handled directly with them. Please follow the link below to book:

http://www.lmfvauxhall.co.uk/Camping-for-VBOA-National-Day-2017.html

The cost is £17 per night when pre booked, for a car with up to 4 occupants, or £23 per night if not pre-booked. Day visitors will be charged £10 per vehicle with up to 4 occupants.

Unlike with Billing Aquadrome, this site will be exclusively used for the VBOA National Rally and the whole site has been secured for our use.

The below details are those given to us by LMF Vauxhall at the most recent VBOA Meeting:

The site has recently been opened for shows and events (so it may not appear on many search engine results) and is located approximately 18 miles from the former site at Billing. It is a 75 acre site, easily accessed from the M1, M6 and A14.

The site will be open from 8am on Friday 7th July to campers, and will have to be vacated by 11am on Monday 10th July. VxON will be in attendance from around lunchtime on the Friday to mid-afternoon on Sunday.

There will be space for camping however the site does not offer electrical hookups for caravans, but there is a chemical toilet disposal point for caravan users.

Showers and toilets will be provided on site.

There will be catering and refreshment providers in the main arena, and there are also various food outlets and supermarkets etc within 1 mile of the site.

On the Saturday night, entertainment will be provided from 8pm to 11pm in the main show marquee by a local band.

From the 10 minutes we had on the phone, I am also very optimistic about some of the changes that are being made. He told that a number of the concerns that were raised by attendees last year have been heard, and that he and his colleagues are putting in a lot of work to improve the quality of the attractions that are available. As an example, he has contacted new autojumble suppliers to come along as well as some that we hare familiar with, as well as some new traders that we haven't seen before.

A few additional bits that I cannot share with you just yet, but that are a "nice touch" to complement the show that is being held, rather than some of the generic attractions we have had before.

In addition to all of that, as is tradition now, VxON will purchase and provide a supply of barbecue food and soft drinks throughout the duration of the weekend; to greatly reduce the cost for those of you attending for the weekend.

Once again, the booking for this event is being handled wholly by LMF Vauxhall as they are sponsoring the event, please use this link to book. Please note that this link is only for VxON Club Members and all those who wish to show with us on site must be members of the club, or travelling with members of the club. This is for insurance purposes as we have Public Liability Insurance covering our members on site.

http://www.lmfvauxhall.co.uk/Camping-for-VBOA-National-Day-2017.html

We really look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to join us for this show, and that we can make a success of attending.

Further details will be provided in this thread as it becomes available, so keep your eyes on here.

Would those of you interested in coming please add yourselves to the list below in order that we can gauge the numbers of attendees and know how big a pitch size to book.

Thanks

Alex & Dave.

LMF have just called me back and apologised that our club didn't appear on the list and I can confirm we are now included!

Just a thought. Now Vauxhall are owned by psa, does that mean Trish can put her 308 on the stand?

Hi All

We have had an update from Steve at LMF Vauxhall who is really working hard to get this show running. Here's what he has had to say in his latest email about various traders and others who will be at the show:

Eibach, Bilstein, Smartrak, Leather Genie, LMF Vauxhall, Autovaux, Blue Pig Photos, Bristol Street Vauxhall, Autobrite, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Interactive, Blood Bikers Charity, Leicestershire Police, Pebble crafts, Kids Glitz and Glam, Ian Broadway (Garage clearance), Viva Spares, James Collier ( Garage Clearance), Millhouse Promotions (Motor Accs), The Hat stand, Paintball shooting range, John Davis Vintage Car Spares, Fabulously Forever Crafts, Dazs Models, Roose Motorsport, Inflate and Paint Face painting and balloon modelling, Ace Vehicles Nova Parts, Silver Pod Coffee, Littlefields Body Repair, Dragons Dents, Pipercross, Remus, Goodridge Hoses, Definitive Detailing Onsite Hand Car wash, Racing Aces plus food and drink stalls. The list is growing daily at the moment.

There will also be a Family fun fair, and craft and trade stands for kids and adults who want to see something a little bit different.

Dave and I attended the VBOA AGM yesterday and we had an update from Steve at LMF Vauxhall on the latest information about the show.

I would say that both of us got a very good impression and were impressed with the level of effort being put in by LMF Vauxhall to make this a really succesful event. That isn't to take away from anything that the VBOA themselves put in to arrange Billing, but this is being built on and definitely very positive outputs.

The list of attending traders is still growing, and will cater towards nearly everyone at a car show - those looking for performance enhancements, style upgrades, but also autojumble traders who might just have that no-longer-produced part for your car. There will also be things available for those bringing families. Hopefully a bit of a return to form after the disappointing display last year thanks to some crappy by-laws in Northamptonshire, Leicestershire don't seem to have such quibbles!

Also supporting the event are Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service who will be displaying on both Saturday and Sunday by cutting up an old car - hopefully a Ford! - and you could have the chance to be rescued from a crash simulator by a real fireman - something Dave was VERY interested in ;)

A couple of other points were also raised relating to the organisation at the event.

First of all - Pre book if you are intending to camp, via the link here http://www.lmfvauxhall.co.uk/Camping-for-VBOA-National-Day-2017.html and make sure you select VxON from the drop-down list "VBOA member of non-affiliated" - but you need to do this by the second weekend in June in order for LMF to have a chance to get everything printed out and posted to you. You will get your tickets and stand passes sent to you in the post direct from LMF, and these will have your Club Name printed on them as well as a unique identifier.

Day visitors will have to pay on the gate, £10 per car with up to 4 adults.

There are going to be two entrances to the showground. One entrance is for Club Members ONLY who are showing their car on stand, either for the full weekend and Day Visitors. The organisers will direct you to the appropriate stand once you arrive at the gate. The second entrance is for people who are not part of a VBOA affiliated club. If you do go to the wrong entrance then you might have to queue up again depending how busy it is.

Due to the site being a bit smaller than we are used to at Billing, we won't have the luxury of space that we have experienced in the past. We have advised how much space we need, given the numbers we expect to come along.

However, this does mean that for anyone who is not bringing a Vauxhall/Bedford/Opel to the show, we won't have space on the stand and you will have to park your car in the main car park. You can drive to drop off your camping equipment but we would have to ask you to move along. But equally we won't suffer from people who aren't even part of the show just turning up on site and setting up on our pitch, which happened at least 5 times every year that we have been at Billing.

We are really looking forward to the show now, its only 9 weeks away and we hope many of you can join us!
