No idea mate. I took mine in for the whine and movement and it stopped.

This is what his website says. I'm not that clued up on gearboxes

All Gearset Bearings Not just End Case..

Whining?? Noisy?? M32 gearbox?? We can make it quiet again!!

All Gearset bearings not just 1 2 or 3!!

This is a very common fault with the M32 6 Speed gearbox, i have rebuilt these gearboxes for a long time now and am very experienced with the M32 gearbox,

I can offer this repair at this very good price as i work from a little garage and have low overheads so i can pass the savings on to you,

For £300 i will replace all the gearset bearings "with Quality Timken bearings" not just one like a few other company's do for a higher price, i will clean all the internals of the gearbox and rebuild with good quality oil, and also give a 6 months warranty..

That is a bargain then. By all gearset bearings he means the 6 in the box. I've seen people do the endcase bearings on the car but not all 6. The fact he can do it in 2 hours is impressive too. To be honest it almost sounds too good

A&S clutch technology is his company ;). He markets himself as the m32 gearbox specialist and has done tonnes. Vxrs is the regulars , the off corsa and even the alfa.

I dropped it off at 9:30 and was on the road before 12.

Bit off topic but is the box particularly notchy as standard? Never had a Vauxhall before and it seems a bit difficult to engage gears. Or is there some adjustment ?

Notchy gear selection is a sign of lack of oil or the oil is in need of a change.

There is an adjustment for the linkage but if all gears feel the same and are selecting OK it's unlikely to be needing done

Thanks for the reply, I did change the oil last year as per the how to (below in italics), some did say about overfilling it to avoid bearing problems but others not so went with factory fill capacity.
It may be how they are I've nothing to compare it to really, but you have to double declutch at times and make sure on 1st and 5th that you purposefully push left or right quite a bit as appropriate, on other cars I have drive you haven't had to be quite so forceful with it. I used the Fuchs you recommended in your previous post.
I still have oil left over if overfilling may help and not cause cavitation or leaky seals?
The gearbox takes 2.4l of oil, however, once drained, 200ml remains in the box, therefore, you require 2.2l of new oil to change the oil.

Vauxhall specifically state that the fill level plug should not be used to gauge the level of oil in the box, rather, it should be measured in. I believe this is because the fill level plug, when used, results in less than 2.4l of oil in the box.

I'd try resetting the linking then just in case. If changing the oil I'll fill it to the fill plug (earlier boxes) then add half a litre. That gets you to roughly 3ltrs. When doing a rebuild I put 3ltrs in as the box will be completely empty

Cheers, might be worth me topping up as I am at 2.4 in theory (mine doesn't have the level plug) I at least have idea of how much is in there.
How involved is resetting the linkage ?

On a 2006 vectra m32 does it have a top up, drain and over spill plug? Sorry if my terminology is not accurate but I hear some boxes have an overspill plug as no window to check measure.
