Hi all, I bought a zafira 6 month's ago and only used it for a month, firstly the maf needed to be changed, the first replacement one wasn't for my engine the second one did nothing so wasn't working the third one worked perfectly for around 2 miles, I also had to replace the ecu transponder ring and chip, now it's like riding a kangaroo, almost impossible. I bought the opcom tool and plugged it in reset some code's tested a few thing's but in all honesty I don't know what I'm looking at, has anyone on here used opcom that can point me in the right direction of finding the problem?

I will try and get a screen shot of the results tomorrow and post on here, any certain things I should be looking for? Symptoms are kangarooing, loss of throttle sometimes, emissions light and traction control light on, struggling tick over slightly better when warm, removal of maf plug can make a difference when starting the car but not when warm

I can see by looking at the MAF is mega under readings. Im going to take a guess and say its a cheap crap one. Correct me if im wrong. These 1.8 engines will only run correctly with a seimens/GM MAF unit. These are around ÂŁ100.

The front lambda readings are staying at around 0.2v. Short fuel trims over +10.

I think the first thing to do is get a genuine MAF on it and see if that cures the fault. The P0303 seems like it might be a further issue unless its just because the mixture is soooooo lean

I bought it from ebay, it did work but then I had the ecu failure once this was changed all was well for a few miles then the car hasn't been used now for around 3 months, the earth going to the maf did have a voltage! Possibly this has blown the maf?

That means nothing unless the user actually knows what they are looking for. You only have his word. Like any diagnostic. Its only as good as the user. I can give my daughter Tech2 - it doesnt make her a trained VX mechanic - well not quite ;) A knackered MAF often doesnt flag a code but its still fooked!!!!.

Do you know anyone who would borrow you a MAF from a working car to test.

No one with the same engine,
In all honesty this is where I am, I have spent around ÂŁ1700 on this car that includes 3 mafs 1 was wrong, ecu chip and ring, plug's and opcom, I only bought this car because the family is getting bigger and we need one more seat, I only used this car for 2 week's at most, the new addition is due anytime now and money could be spent on better things like a decent car, in you opinion would a new maf fix it or would it need more work? As it stands it will need the part/s to repair plus mot and end of the month tax

In all honesty. I wouldnt want to give you false hopes without seeing the car knowing how much money you have already thrown at this car. The data does show a really low volume of air passing the MAF. Maybe its time to check the wiring from the MAF to the ECU for any breaks.

if secondhand maf or non gen vx or bosch can cause problems

Ok I have found a maf, it's second hand but was told if it doesn't work I can send it back for a full refund worth a try at ÂŁ25, if it helps or fixes the problem's it'll be ideal if not I've not lost too much but I'm confident that it will make a difference just not sure how much, last one I bought the difference was unbelievable it was like a new car for a few miles, I'm not sure but think the flow meter reads off one fuse when cold then the other when warm because once my zafira was warm I had exactly the same faults as before, I think that's when the 'earth' took another maf, anyway it should be here mid week

You need to record everything in the measuring blocks part, start the car and have op-com loaded up and in the bottom left of the screen you should see a record button, press it, if the car is drive-able then take it around for a few miles and stop recording, the reports are saved in the "LOG" folder and can be opened up in Microsoft Excel buddy, I need to see the log to see whats going on

With any Vauxhall part it has to be correct and defiantly genuine, second hand mafs are usually a waste of time and the sellers usually get them from breakers but list it as working but they would say that so they can sell it, I learnt this mistake when fixing my sister in law's corsa, in the end I bought a new one out of the dealership ÂŁ50 which was quite good and problems were solved, but before that I tried about 5 from the scrappy and all of them were duff.

The part arrived today, haven't had a chance to fit it yet should have time tomorrow.
The bloke I bought if from has over 8000 feedback and 100% and has a return policy of 14 day's, worth one last gamble at that money, I will run and record all data with opcom but hopefully this will sort the fault

I have fitted the new maf and the car starts and drivea the rpm holds and there's no fault code's at all, but saying that the car feels like it's in limp mode, I have recorded everything on live data for about 5 minutes if someone could take a look for me it would be appreciated
