hi all, just a quick 1, when i bought the veccy it had 12mth mot, now im picking up all the pieces of a neglected previous family lol.
anyway their are 2 probs, 1 of is when you go over a pot hole etc... the backend feel's like it twitching, and it aint the softest of suspension (standard) and you can feel every bump in the road. what can cause this people have bin saying its your rear bushes and or rear shockers!!!!????

the sencond is i have some form of oil leak coming from under the engine bay, it not p/s nor oil nor brake fluid as these are checked every day, and stay around maximum levels, the leakage spots on the road are from drivers side area. any ideas more than welcome please many thanks members :Cool2: :Cool2:

i have the same on mine the rear twiches. it could be worn antirolll bushes.

Anti-roll bar bushes......and rose bushes if it clunks. Oil leak....could be loads of things..

yes every thing is standard and its a sri 140 hatchback, and there is no uneven tread on tyres, and all four tyres are of the same brand goodyear.

i have looked around the engine bay, and cannot see anything visable, their is nothing on the drivers side wishbone either so im stumped

i did ring a garage and they said it could be a shocker down?????

a dead shock can proove for interesting driving. how to dript a front wheel drive car one let the air out 2 place something under wheel 3 remove the oil/gas from shock obsorber 4 fit two small a tyre 5 fit a wheel with wrong ofset and over size tyre and to much air.

Check for signs of leaks from shocks and do simple bounce tests on the back of car.

from what others are saying its pretty standard though.

yeah,tried the bounce test and nothing is bottoming out, and there is no sign of leakage through out the shaft of the shockers neither, but i did have a similar prob on a escort tddi i used to own and 1 of the coil springs had a crack in.

common vectra, with standard suspension vectras hav a tendancy for understear and twitchyness, to cure this on my old veccy i bought poly bushes front nd rear as they are a harder compound (also last longer, bonus) also lowered it 30mm spring and shock kit from germany, handled a treat, cud throw it into corners much harder and stuck to the road better in wet conditions

Twiching on the back end of mine was signs that the rose bushes were on either way out. New rear shocks (they were leaking both sides) and new rose bushes firmed the rear of the car again

thanks very much people since this thread i have found out thats it is the rose bush's have alot of play in them so they need replacing (why it passed mot i dont know!!!!).
the leak was coming from a upper sump gasket which vauxhall said was approx 160 quid for labour new gasket and a extra £5 per ltr for oil their after.
the rose bushes and tool from ebay are £50 how to replace i have no idea lol, so this is job for garage lol
