Strange title I know.

Is it me, but why does my car feel like I’m driving over tram tracks when you go over some snail poo in the road? I use the expression snail poo, as it can be something minor like a road marking or a blip in the road. It seems to pull, just like being on tram tracks lol.

STEAM -> is it me again??? Why is my car constantly steamed up despite the demister being on? There are no water leaks.

Specs, Vauxhall Omega 3.0 MV6, It has firmer suspension than the other models and low profile tyres.

Any ideas or am I strange?

if its constantly steamed up its water related try the door seals,boot seal and any drain hole's even the one's in the bottoms of doors

as for the drifting around are the ball joints ok?

I'll check the seals, although the drivers side door sounds windy when travelling so it maybe that, i'll check the drain holes too.

It had new ball joints last year by a previous owner, all expensive Vauxhall Dealership stuff, full vauxhall service history, the last service at 110K its now at 128K he spent nearly 3K on it, it had loads done to it, I only paid 2K for the car.

I'm begining to think the CAMBER is out, i'll get that done a 4 wheel alignment and me steering wheel de-cruckified. lol

What size wheels has it got? If they're massive, that can cause tramlining.

also, some people tend to like having the aircon on with the interior set to "recirculate". In my experience this leads to a dampness in the cabin which doesnt help when it comes to misting.. you can't beat a good blast of warm air straight from the engine...

demon tweeks at wrexham is a good place to get the geometry checked 4 wheel laser alignment setup,not that bad a price either,just don't wander around the shop it's a petrol heads idea of heaven,last time i went for a back box i came away with a set of 17 alloys and a full koni suspention kit.nearly a grand gone in one day

Its either got 16 or 17 inch low profiles on it.

I have considered getting different alloys for it as the current ones have marks on them. eBay sell some decent second hand ones.

The tram lining is prob caused by one of the wishbone bushes being worn.
Mine used to do that get them checked then get a full geometry alignment done by a GOOD specialist not bloody quickfit. It need a computerised one.


As for the steam prob check the front passenger footwell carpet see if it's damp. If it is then chances are your scuttle drain is blocked. if you look uner the scuttle flap (just under the windscreen passernger side) where the pollen filter is located you may find it is full of water.

At the bottom of the scuttle there is a drian hole that fills with crap and blocks push a metal coat hanger through it or a long screwdriver and you will see all the water drain out the bottom. Then i suggest you change the pollen filter ans it will be moldy and start to smell.

Also noticed is is coming up on 130,000 miles.

When was the cam belt last done you should be on the 3rd one Vx recomend every 40,000 used to be 70,000 but they dropped it to 40k

If you are going to get it done get the full kit with tensioners as they are what normally goes.

Also maybe worth doing the water pump at the same time as you need to get the belt off to do it later so may as well get it all done at the same time for the sake of another £40.

It was done at 110K, oil pump, shocks, gaskets, you name it, he spent nearly 3K at a Vauxhall Dealer and then sold it to me months later for 2K with a years mot and 6 months tax. I'll try and dig out my service history if I can find it and post it on here, it should be down as the most spent on a vauxhall.

Having said all of that ^, I routed for it last week when I was sorting things out and coudn't find it, maybe i'll drop on it somewhere. I think the mysterious bedroom cleaning fairy may have moved it.

I popped in to my local 'al qaeda' garage the other day for a valet and for him to swap the tyres round. Put the back on the front etc.

Doesn't tram line now so I'm thinking it must the type of tread.

When I examined the tyres (see picture) they are wearing wierd, I'm going to take it to deamon tweaks and get it tracked properly.

Re. the comprehensive service history of your car, don't let that influence a diagnosis of a problem. I bought a 2.5 V6 Omega back in 2005 that came with a fVsh, despite that the brakes felt poor, so in tracking down the cause I noticed that in the huge pile of Vx dealer invoices there was still no mention of a brake fluid change (I promptly had that done, and the dealer that did it commented the stuff they'd removed was black), and changed the pads myself. The pads I took out had anti-rattle shims fitted to them - I thought they went out with the ark, so I reckon the dealer who did them had fitted whatever crap they had sitting at the back of the cupboard.
