Guys,

A friend has a Tigra and the battery fails every few months. She has been told the alt if giving charge. However, sometimes lights on her radio/cd player come on without the keys in the ignition, this happens before the battery dies. The radio also lets off an 'electrical buzz' without the face on.....its stops as soon as the face is on.

Is this a symptom of the dead battery or is a clue to the fault? Would this point towards a faulty alternator or diode pack.

Help.

to me it sounds as if the radio wiring is shorting in some way and draining the battery, get a volt meter and check what the alternator is kicking out. should be a consistant voltage at idle, then a little higher at rev. if it is under 12, or juumping around a lot then its feked. sounds like the radio to me tho from what you are describing.

they do use very little power though stereos.
