Very occasionally our Omega V6 does not start first time, it turns over & seems to backfire slightly or at least sounds like it although I can't be sure as the wife drives the car & I have only heard it once, this happens 2 or 3 times then starts ok and runs ok.
Any ideas or has this happened to anybody before?

My V6 did this just before the cambelt pully seized. Your's may not be as drastic, but it sounds like a timing issue (as it's trying to fire hence the misfire).

I'd check the electrics as well as it may be problem on the low or high tension electrical system, but don't ignore the mechanicals, cos if it is a cambelt tensioner on the way out........ BANG!

I put a cam belt kit on in Jan this year, I also had the heads skimmed etc so it shouldn't be a sticking valve. I will check the electrics as far as I can with my limited equipment on this side.
It is a rear occurance but is fine after it's started.
