was thinking more of a trolley jack and a length of wood under the cradle
Didn't want to carry trolley Jack's wanted to stay with onboard equipment, ie roadside breakdown . The weight is definitely a problem, just trying to find a mod to facilitate easy up and down. Not a good design.

What about a bar of metal and something to use as a pivot like a block of wood. That wouldn't take up too much storage space.

Look on ebay for a peugeot boxer vans spare wheel contraption don't know if you could fit it but its brilliant just put your spare onto it and wind it up using a ratchet with a bar drags it in and lifts it up so easy .
