Service vehicle soon message

Hi, I’m hoping someone can help

I recently purchased a 2010 Insignia CDTI and am having a reoccurring issue where the “Service Vehicle Soon” message come up in the centre screen on the dash, and the car goes into limp mode, but no Check Engine Light or anything comes on. Then as soon as I turn the car off & back on again it’s back to it’s perky self

I can’t afford to take it to a garage at the moment so bought a fairly cheap OBD2 Reader off of amazon

I waited for the message to come up again, and when it did, I pulled over and plugged the reader in with the engine still running, but it was showing zero ‘Trouble Codes’? However, when I then pressed ‘Erase codes’ the message disappeared for a couple of seconds then popped back up again, so there is clearly an issue somewhere that the OBD can’t seem to find

Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone know what the issue may be?

Any help is appreciated!

Kyle.

Yes,it's a manufacturer specific code that the obd cant' read, you need a better scanner

Welcome Kyle. As Valer says (who has helped me loads with my meriva in the past) vauxhall is rather picky when it comes to code readers. Those generic ones simply don't work. The insignia SERVICE SOON message is mentioned frequently on here and means there is a fault... Not that it needs an oil change etc. It will need reading properly and can't be negotiated.
