doing a headgasket on a rover 414,

nearly finished but hit a mole hill

the bottom is what i believe to be TDC the exhuast cam is in position ok but the inlet wont go to position, think the valve is touchingthe piston.

i think it 1 of to options

1 crank not at TDC
2 sprocket on cam not in correct position

i find 2 unlikely but i'm not certain of the position of the crank.

tried logging in to the rover forum, but there registration is fooked and i can't see some pictures that i want and they have not responded to two attempts of contact

is there anyone that can log in to the forum? or as anyone got any pics for the position of the crank

the bottom timing mark for the crank is not tdc , i did 1 recently at work & lined the mark up at the bottom , all the pistons are about half way , when you fit the 2 cam sprockets the name of the cam lines up to the dowel in the end ( dowel on inlet cam lines up to in on the sprocket ) each sprocket has inlet & exhaust wrote on it & the inlet should say exhaust & the exhaust should say inlet as its telling you that when timed up the word exhaust on the inlet cam should be pointing at the exhaust cam , any more probs pm me.
