Hi all, new member here so saying hello to all. Bought a 2003 trafic lwb 1.9 the end of last month, after years of vw ownership I decided to jump ship and save the scene tax plus get something a little more modern then what I'm used to. The van had been used by a mobile mechanic and previously by a local building company so it wasn't in the best of shapes inside but we'll looked after service wise and good mot history so decided to go for it. Here she was when I first got her.

Stripped the front end, replaced the passangers side headlight, ground off the bull bar that had been welded onto the chassis, removed the multitude of spot/led lights that were fitted and put a new front bumper on.

Removed all the lights off the roof and removed all the associated wiring, control box's for the lights, ended up having to take half the dash out to find out what was going where, fun lol! Replaced the heater control bulbs whilst the dash was in peices.

De stickered/De badged the entire van, still got a fair bit of residue to remove but that can wait for the final deep clean.

Cleaned the wheels to see what condition they were in, not great if I'm being honest so I will give them a lick of black paint to keep myself happy till I decide which wheels I'm going to buy

So that's where I'm to at the minute, the van is not on the road till the start of next month so jobs still to do, more cleaning in the rear, sand rear floor plus paint, soundproof and lay new floor, fit 2 twin passanger seats for the kid'os, respray wheels, respray bonnet, fit side exit exhaust, replace missing side trim panel and give it a major deep clean inside and out, busy month me thinks, all good fun though!

I did the same, sold my T5 last April, bought the Viv B in December. Better ride, engine and space.
Two things I miss are a better turning circle and rear roof lining. Had windows in sliders last month, waiting for better weather to start a basic conversion, not over the top like the T5.
Keep us posted on the progress(y)

Cheers Rob, I'm not a huge fan of the wheels, think I'm going to go with my favourite, banded steels but they can wait, got an mot and new clutch to get done first, this van is not going to be a mega expensive build, think I've learnt my lesson with my last t4 and the money I lost on it vs what I spent lol! They'll be plenty more updates(y)

Looking forward to see them, are you putting the bull bar back? Thought it looked like it belongs there.
Don't think the wheels will fit mine otherwise I might be interested.

No mate the bull bar is not going back on, don't think it was supposed to be for a trafic, it had been welded to the front crossmenber, I will be keeping the wheels as a spare set, I have issues with painting wheels, Im happy for a while then change my mind so having a spare set is always handy for me, you can never have to many wheels!

A bit of progress on the floor, surface rust ground back to bare metal and treated with rust inhibitor, a new coat of paint across the whole floor, sound proofing, new ply lining and some carpet on top,new side/rear door seals fitted also, just got to figure out how to fit the seats next(y)

Coming on well, the floor looks neat, still like the bull bar though.
Hope your lad is helping his dad and getting his hands dirty;)
