Hi, does anyone know what this code means? I took it to my garage and he said it's a permanent code and will book me in. I've come home and done the pedal test as I've read on here...and I get the above code. Its overdue its service, I think it must be related to that as the only thing I've found from google is that someone had it linked to engine oil.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Do you know which 1.6
XEP, XE1, or XER ?
but tbh i can't see that the code is relevant to any of them,
the nearest ican find is P0253 and that only applies to some Diesels

Yes Andy,it's best to clarify exactly what we're looking at,
they didn't fit a 1.6 Diesel in the Zafira B

I put the details in on the gov website, it says 1686 engine. It's definitely a B. It is an import, if that's any use?

That'll be one of the 1.7's then,
The generic obd code means engine oil life exceeded

It appears to be due an oil & filter change. Another couple of weeks shouldn't hurt it, as long as it's not low on oil.

It really means the oil/oil filter needs changing but you have to reset the engine oil life to get rid of the code just changing the oil won't remove it.
The engine oil life is worked out in a couple of ways, sometimes it's time based, sometimes mileage based and sometimes the cars ecu works it out itself by counting how many starts, how many times the dpf has regenerated etc,if it's only just come on a couple of weeks should be ok.
