Hey all, My mate has a 02' plate 2.2 ecotec that's got problems when its first started up. Once its started it's completly un responsive in "D", but will accelerate when put into "1" and kicked down, then it has to be driven using the gears. Also when the sport mode button is pressed it'll just flash on, then will stay off even when the button is repeatedly pressed. this problem occurs completly at random, when car is left overnight or turned off for a few minutes, the only way we seem to get it to work is to keep re-starting till eventually it'll work, or just drive it using the gears. Don't know if this is connected but the "service due" light is also on?

Any help is very much appreciated guys, as this is driving him mad!! :grrr

I believe that when the Fluid Level is low in the Auto 'Box this can occur, it's a kind of "get you home" mode. I'd check the fluid level before anything else.

does the car feel like it's pulling off in a higher gear as it could be an issue with the SNOW mode locked in

sounds like you need a tech 2 from an auto specialist or vauxhall to confirm any faults its also could be a simple lack of patience as the same thing happebed to me i was rushing getting in a cold car and shoving it into drive straight away with out giving it time to think what gear it was in get in the habbit of starting the car then putting your seatbelt on n tuning ya radio n stuff by then the gearbox will have got its head arround working properly good luck
