I have a 97 Omega 2.0 16V Auto CD Estate. Is there a switch or a way of disabling the passenger airbag? so a baby in a car seat can sit in the front? I know some cars have this feature.:bananasmi

There is no switch, but you could always pull the fuse, but this would disable the drivers airbag too, and then probably leave with a light to get reset.

Why not just put your child in the back? better peace of mind there.

I personally wouldn't put much faith in the disable switches anyway, its just not final enough that the airbag wouldn't fire.

Vx didn't really believe in the switches.

They had there own Transponder system available as an optional extra.

Basically, there was a receiver in the seat, and a transponder in the baby seat (which was also brouht from Vx). The transponder in the car seat told the Airbag ECU that there was a baby seat in the front seat, and DO NOT fire the airbag. The system was quite expensive (for what it was), and TBH I have only ever seen one Omega with Seat Occupancy Detection.
