my mate did the sump gasket on my c20xe engine a while back and it's been leaking worse than ever since :(

he's got new gaskets again (cost £20) what gasket sealent is best to put on it ?

he's on about not using any and trying it with just the gaskets this time ?!?!?

any help advice appreciated!

The parts do require a sealant and haynes qoutes it as a vauxhall part. I am not convinced its the same as liquid gasket.

I had the same problem, turned a drip into a flood. I gave it to the mechanic I used to use and theres no sign of any drips not even an ickle one.

A lot of people on here have tried to change it and failed (some have succeeded though).

For the sake of the £70, I would recommend you get a mechanic to do it.

If you do do it yourself, I would get some of the proper sealant, I think that was my first mistake.

You dont use sealant on all of the gasket, just the part where the block is joined together at the back of the lump.

Use an ecotec gasket.....
