Today was the awkwards bits, fitting the hose to the heater pipes and fitting the nozzles/straws

Anyway I removed the panel over the wipers and the plenum

Removed the wiper motor and cut the pipe from the bypass to the block, used a T on the corner HBV is 16mm on exit.

On the in side of the HBV it is the next size up so I cut the 16mm bits off the T piece and ran the hose out round the back just under the heater pump pipes. HBV is being held

I tapped the holes on the plenum, not wery well as 6mm was too small I really needed 6.75mm for the 8mm thread, anyway they are loctited in!

All put back on with the injectors placed loosely on the plenum to seal the straws.

Next part next week - fit the evaporator

When I had the kit on my MV6 it was never fully sorted, as I rolled it quite soon after fitting.

Full throttle it tended to drop to petrol to avoid a weak mixture. But ordinary running about I suppose a drop in about 3 - 5 bhp and smoother running.

It is possible to tune to LPG over petrol but that is specialised.

The person who converted the MV6 put the loom next to the ICV and it melted, also put the ECU in the airbox, which probably accounted for the 3-5bhp, also it took them 3 days to do the hot water correctly.

I have been planning this since I got the car.

I've got myself a new digi cam recently ....so any pics on my lpg conversion that might help you....let me know and i can post them...so you can see how mines been done

Old Red.....Performance wise....my lpg conversion....is definatly not as good as running on petrol.....ive had the lpg tweaked now serveral times plus an ecu upgrade done on it.....classic example today on the way back from Gatwick on the M25....got my ecelerator foot firmly planted on the floor....omega is doing 70mph....in 3rd...coz it changed down...going up slight incline....and making no headway.....switch it to petrol and it takes off.....but it is a 2.2.....and then i pay 37p/l for lpg and whats petrol? 90p/l?....so yes performance wise its a bit sluggish....but its saving me loads on fuel costs

One of the Omegas at todays RR event did two runs to evaluate the difference, I am sure he will publish the results!

http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/showthread.php?t=72458

As said above,

had 2 runs;

Petrol
Power 186 BHP @ 5706 Rpm
Torque 193 lbft @ 4266 Rpm

LPG
Power 177 BHP @ 5546 Rpm
Torque 181lbft @ 4320 Rpm

Power on petrol is 21 BHP down against the book data

Had fun though on over the day.

I don't notice any difference in performance when on LPG (although I believe that a slight drop in horsepower and economy is to be expected)
Without doubt the biggest advantage for me is 31p per litre on a car that struggles to get 15mpg!

Down 9 bhp - are you running mixers, SGI, or something else (eg liquid gas injection)?

I think the ECU for mine is among the other ECUs in the box next to the battery. There should be space for an extra box.

Can you tell me which pipes you took the supply from using this diagram below? I have arrowed what I believe is the direction of coolant flow, it's an old diagram I used on a different forum to ask some questions about the dual-fuel system.

Cheers
Paul.

No HBV in that diagram!!

Equivalent in mine is 21 end of 4 and somewhere on 6

With HBV I cut the pipe between HBV and block 20mm and the other pipe from HBV back to block near the heater pipe back in

Where is the HBV, at the engine or at the matrix? If it's at the engine I presume pipes 4 and 5 don't get any heat when the climate is set to cold?

Correct

The HBV pic3 is behind the engine - I'll draw and post a schematic later

Today I have been tidying the injector pipes and properly fitting, I have also fitted the vacuum sensor to the R/H strut top.

Need to go out for more jubilee clips so photos later.

Evaporator tomorrow if dry
