Sometimes when I try to remove the key from the ignition barrel it leaves the key and outer housing in the ignition barrel ,( two button remote standard stick out key type ) and myself holding the inner section that you normally pry out with a screw driver when needing access to change battery fob etc .
I recently changed the button cover for a new one as it was worn through .
If I try to pull it out on purpose it seems pretty stuck in .
Should I just apply a little super glue just a minute drop on each side maybe with point of a cocktail stick that would hopefully break contact with screw driver force if I needed to reopen for battery etc or alternatively a small amount of UHU plastic glue might be less permanent.
Hopefully someone has a fix for this issue just don't want to lose damage the immobilizer chip so would like to fix asap as it's easy to forget to be ultra careful on removing the ignition key each time especially when you are in a hurry or it's raining etc

Is the pic before you changed the "button cover " ?
if so that would indicate it's the outer housing that's worn allowing the fob to easily fall out,
i would just get another key cut or upgrade and get a flip key case and cut to number then transfer the remote pcb to it

That was the picture before just to show key type .
Just got back from Blackpool and the central heating boiler not working new fan £243 Ouch so I will try and take picture of new inner housing and old key housing ( not positive but I have replaced the button cover before , and I think it came with a key and housing unit I didn't use at the time just reused the original Siemens so it must be somewhere in my junk draw most likely )
It looks like the bit that clicks together has worn down will try and get some pictures to update with soon .
Sorry gas central heating boiler is a priority I have an angry wife with no hot water and mains central heating .
Thankfully we have electric shower , gas fire , and several electric heaters and oil filled electric radiator out of storage keeping things warm ( god knows what the electric bill be next month 😨 )

Unbelievably the new fan unit for the boiler is broken the housing is in several pieces so will have to exchange it Monday morning ( Wife is definitely not happy with the extra wait for central heating/hot water )
However I have bush fixed the Corsa Key fob by placing a small piece of crafted wood to jam in-between the inner fob pieces at the back end where the locating tab lug should locate itself onto the key section and lock in place . Now it requires gentle force to push the inner shell into place and it locks with a clear audible click as the lug locates onto the key section . I cannot now pull the key from the inner shell even using half strength pulling so only way to open it now is correctly with a small screwdriver levering it out as normal .
I did have the option of using the new back plate that has a new more prominent lug , but I wanted to retain the original Siemens back plate so until next time the bush fix is good . I suppose there may be wear and tear to the lug hole section that is on the original key .
I would post pictures , but now it is in place I don't want to inflict anymore wear and tear on 21 year old plastics
Cheers Andy
