I installed a kenwood MP3 headunit and audio leads and every thing works fine and everything worked. for some reason i have to take it out to do something, on putting it all back again the headunit hit something and a flash appeared. now the steering controls dont work and the only way the headunit works is by re-wiring it so i have to turn it on manually, can anyone help i want my controls back and the stereo to work narmally!!!

Sounds like you trapped a live wire between chassis of the radio & the sharp edge of the cage.
Check your fuses, both fuse box & in loom of radio, hopefully one has blown.

i have looked at the fuses and they are ok and all wires seem fine as none appear broke. they all still tied and wrapped together. im sure it is something to do with the yellow ignition wire but dont know how to solve it

yeah other units will not work either, re-wired so rather than being wired to the ignition as it does work it is wired to the constant so in order to use it i have the physically turn it on and off
