i bought a 2.5td omega a few weeks back, it has a hunting problem, ive taken it to a diesel specialist, he said just live with it, i took it to vauxhall they said they had nt a clue wat it was and charged me 45 quid, drivin me mad now
when the car starts its fine, give it ten seconds and it vibrating away, the car starts to shake, when i drive it its fine when u go between 50 and 70 the whole car shakes, when you plant it, it goes reallly well, you wouldnt think there is anything wrong with it, and after a run it dos nt seem that bad, if you are sittin at lights, sometimes it starts shakin other times its like a normal diesel, i could live with it if i knew it was nt serious, but even though the diesel specialist said it was fine just to live with it still plays on my mind
the mileage is 154000
its dos nt burn any oil,
its not using really any water
the injectors were replaced last year

hope some of you guys can help me as its driving me round the bend, im probably worryin about nothin but id rather be sure...

Is the car actually hunting? or is it just vibrating, if it's vibrating I'd take a look at the engine mounts, it's purely a guess but if the engine is idling fine it would be my first port of call. I've run oil burners for a number of years and the only time I've had an idling problem was when it use to bomb out, almost stalled, then pick up again which did make it shake a lot, turned out to be a blocked fuel filter, not enough fuel flow into the engine. Hope this helps.

One key thing worth looking at is the EGR valve (mounted on the front of the inlet manifold), this can cause poor idle etc when it sticks open.
