Hi Guys,

(2003 Omega 2.2 CDX Auto Saloon)

Engine management light came on at start-up this evening and remained on for the 4 mile journey with no apparent engine fault.

Later after an engine re-start management light stayed on again.

A further re-start and 10 mile journey no further display.

Does anyone know how long any fault code will be stored?

Thanks.

Ray.

Hi Barry,

I have read your posts mate .. but I don't have any problems regarding starting. The car drove as normal with the engine management light on.

I know some AA patrols are equipped with "Vixen" diagnosis hardware and can check for stored fault codes.

I think I'd rather have the AA check it out .. than any Vauxhall Dealer!

Just really wanted to know how long any fault code would be stored.

Hope your own Omega troubles are over.

Thanks

Ray.

I think - but stand to be corrected - that there will be fault codes stored, but if cleared may not reproduce themselves till the prob. occurs again.

Some fault codes will stick around for a long time, some seem to clear themselves when the problem clears itself.

E.g. fault code for no engine RPM disappears when you start the car, but an error 89 (lambda sensor failure) took at least 20 clean engine starts to go away.

Had the orange light tonite on my 2.2 CDX...........:eh

No apparant problems with engine, ran fine, started fine...

Switched ignition on/off 25 times to clear, then it stared fine, all warning lamps went out.

Guess I'll be finding out over the next few days if its gonna come back??
