Can any one help. I have a R reg Vauxhall Vertra and my EML light is on, and not sure what to do. can I diagnose the problem or do I have to take it to a garage where they will probably rip me off?

I have recently had a full service, new radiator and new gearbox. Any suggestions?

yes you can diagnose - in the How2 area there is a therad about reading fauly codes.

I have had a look, but cant find out how to diagnose. Is there equipment that I need? How do I find out which codes it is do i need a meter or something. Sorry Im a women and dont know much about cars, only that they are darn expensive when they go wrong :(

You need a paperclip or piece of wire and the ability to count.

Basic Instructions:

- Remove the tray under the handbrake (just pulls out)
- Reveal a socket

You now need to find the How2 as this shows which bits you put the wire into, then turn on ignition and the EML light will flash, the number of flashes is showing a code and this code is related to the fault.
