I am working on my first car, have zero mechanic experience so really starting from scratch with the lingo and that. We've got a super rusty Corsa Opel here. Originally I was pulling the lever under the steering wheel and it sounded like the bonnet popped, but no amount of pushing down on it would release. Couldnt access the little lever bit under the bonnet at first.
I have done several things that have been recomended on different forums and youtube videos:
- pulled the cable towards me from behind the lever, under the steering wheel. this gave an extra inch or two of cable but didn't pop anything.
-trying crowbarring the bonnet a bit, also didnt help anything (apart from maybe make it a bit looser to look inside).
-got the front grill off, now we can look inside : I've prodded around with screwdriver and pliers at different bits of cable and rod, but no luck. The lever that looks like the thing that would release the bonnet seems to do nothing.
I didnt manage to get a pic of the lever but here's the rest of what i assume is the mechanism.
If anyone has any advice, I'd be very appreciative!
