Ive tried to change my thermostat the other day , took it for a test drive and the coolant pipe keeps popping off , I’m assuming its the spring clip , that connects the pipe to the thermostat housing has become weak , having trouble locating a new one
any ideas would be most appreciated

No it’s a wire that’s part of the coolant hose , your meant to pull it up a bit then it slips off the the thermostat housing , it a sprung wire clip , it fits inside the pipe not around it

You don't say which engine this is but from your description it sounds like this type of fitting,
it won't take a jubilee in replacement the clip only comes with a new hose,
are you sure you're getting the fitting all the way home on the stat ?

There's an Option ring inside it. A wipe of washing up liquid or hand wash will help the pipe slide on correctly. Make sure the Other ring is located correctly, not twisted and in good condition.
