Can any of you gurus point me in the right direction with this one?
My 1999 Corsa 1.7D rev counter only 'works' about 50% of the time. When it's not working correctly it shows an RPM of about 400 regardless of engine speed. Turn the engine off and restart, and it will probably work ok again!
This is both my first Vauxhall and diesel, so any info would be much appreciated.

Not knowing the age of your corsa or type of 17.d, the rev counter is usually driven from the alternator by a green wire, you could try there first to see if anythings amiss.
That wouldnt explain it working after a fresh start though i wouldnt have thought though :(

Great advice - thanks! Cause was the green wire which was snapped and shoved into the plug on the alternator.
Cheers mate - you are a guru!
