Morning All,

I have a bit of a dilemma in that I haven't used the vectra for about 6 weeks, (broke my ankle)

I went to start it this morning and it did start but turned over really slow,

Anyway left it running to clear the screen only to come back about 10 minutes later to find it stopped,Tried to start it battery Flat,

What I would like to know is it ok to charge the battery in place???

I know they "recommend disconnecting" before charging but I have lost my car pass and that would mean that I couldn't use the cd/radio,and just wondered if it worth the risk ( if there is one) hence my Plea.....

i did leave the charger on the old discovery of mine for about 2 days lol, but on the charger i had a trickle button which i used. on my veccy now i wouldnt dream of it just incase there is a possibility of something shorting and causing a electrical fire, the radio codes are easy enough to get hold of ;-)

Perfectly in order to charge the battery in place.
Do it straight away because the plates start sulphating as soon as it is discharged and in a fortnight it will be ruined. Jerry

Never had a problem charging the battery whilst connected in over 40 years. Lot of people paranoid about damaging ECU's etc. The battery charger is only duplicating your alternator

I did do a search first and weighed up the situation ,

But just wanted to get other views first,

Anyway I have already done it now so its to late to worry,

I take it you mean when the battery has been charged???

no, before it's been charged,i just undo the lead from the battery,connect up the charger,then refit the lead once it's charged.

It is still being charged as we speak.....

Worked out ok,Had about 6 hour charge,No probs
