Make sure you eye up the leads very well. There way be a small tear and it could make all the difference. Maybe your rotor arm or distributor is knackered too. Doesn't sound like a big problem to me. It's bound to be something small.
No distributor on a V6 matey, coilpack... could be cracked and corroded though.
A knackered old exhaust can make a car hold back if the baffles have collapsed, but that usually holds back at high revs due to too much back pressure.
